L. Tom Perry Special Collections

BYU's L. Tom Perry Special Collections is an archive on BYU campus dedicated for the preservation of materials from across history. As a part of BYU's 150th celebration, we went to Special Collections to see what items the Chemistry and Biochemistry Department had preserved and what we could use to help showcase our rich history.

We received express permission from the L. Tom Perry Special Collections in the BYU Library to share these items on this website. The items are shared for the express purpose of highlighting the history of the Chemistry and Biochemistry Department in honor of BYU's 150th Celebrations. All copyrights belong to the original owners. The BYU Chemistry and Biochemistry Department does not take credit for the creation of these items or their content. A Brief History

Dr. Hugh Peterson's "A Brief History of the Chemistry Department of Brigham Young University" is an account of BYU's Chemistry and Biochemistry Department from 1875 up to 1966, when it was written. This account provides information on different events throughout the department's history, as well as the names of many influential students and professors who shaped the department into what it is today.

Photographs

The original copies of these ten photos are kept in the Chemistry and Biochemistry Department's files in Special Collections. We do not know the origins of these photos, only that they are from around 1924. Each display and person photographed marks how far the field of chemistry has come.
